Happy Mew Year!

Hello, 2019! It’s hard to believe, but 2018 is officially a wrap! As you know, today, January 1st, is New Year’s Day. However, tomorrow is Fluffy’s version of the new year: it’s Happy Mew Year’s Day For Cats! Read on as a Rochester, NY vet discusses ringing in the New Year with your feline friend.

Fluffy’s Resolutions

Many people are taking some time today to think about their goals for the coming year. If Fluffy could make resolutions, we suspect that taking lots of naps may be on the list. Your pet may also want to explore more boxes, soak up lots of sunshine, or supervise her humans more carefully. Perfecting the pounce, catching that red dot, and leaving pet fur more evenly-distributed on your belongings may also be on your kitty’s agenda for 2019.

Celebrating

Start the new year out right by giving your kitty a few small gifts. A new toy would be a great option. Fluffy may also appreciate a comfy bed or perhaps a special treat. Furniture will also please your feline overlord. Of course, your cat may also be happy just to curl up in your lap for a nap.

Keeping Kitty Healthy

Keep your pet’s health in mind as you set your own goals for the coming months. First and foremost, make sure your kitty is getting proper veterinary care. Vaccinations, exams, and parasite control will all help keep your feline pal in good health. If your furball hasn’t been fixed and/or microchipped yet, get this done as soon as possible. Feeding Fluffy good, nutritious pet food is important as well. We also recommend keeping cats safe and sound indoors.

Bonus Purrs

Fluffy’s mental health is just as important as her physical health. Kitties may be rather lazy in general, but they actually do need stimulation and entertainment. Make sure your furry buddy has plenty of fun toys to bat around. Playing is much more fun with friends, so take time to hold a laser pointer or wand toy for your feline pal to pounce on. This will help encourage your cute pet to stay active. It will also provide a mental challenge. Plus, it’s a great way to bond with your four-legged friend!
